How it is made
Hot rolled (HR) steel plate starts from hot liquid metal casted into large rectangular slabs called billets. These billets are then reheated to over 1700˚F past the steel's recrystallization temperature and compressed into a large roll. The hot material is then passed through a series of rollers until the desired dimensions are met and then cut to a specific length. The material is then left to cool and packaged.
