Cold Finished (CF) Bar

For over twenty years, Millennium has been selling cold finished bars to its customers. Millennium's stock of cold finished (CF) bars is very strong, with both regular cold drawn and turned and polished. We have a wide array of sizes, shapes, and grades such as 1144 and 1215 in order to meet your specific needs. Also, we have round, square, hex, and flat bars available.

Hot rolled steel is forced through a die that is smaller than the steel, resizing it. This process improves tolerances as well as the strength of the bar. Features Of Our Cold Finished Bar

For hot rolled steel bar, diameters up to at least 10.5 inches round are available, with the possibility of larger sizes. Materials that Millennium works with for bar products are as follows:

12L14, 1215, 1018, 1117, 11L17, 1030, 1035, 1045, 1137, 1141, 1144, 11L44, 8620, 86L20, 4140, 41L40, 1541, 52100, per ASTM A108 Standard, 1144 per ASTM A311 Class B

Our 1144 cold finished bars and 1215 cold finished bars are preferred by many customers. 1144 and 1215 are common grade choices due to their strength in withstanding high stress applications.

Cold Drawn (CD)

Cold drawn bar is made by forcing hot rolled bar through a slightly smaller die. The bar then goes through a process called rotary straightening to produce an even straighter bar.

Turned and Polished

Unlike cold drawn bar, turned, and polished bar is not made from the drawing process. Instead of being pulled through a die without being heated, turned and polished bar goes through a process called "turning."
